Join us on a island tour and become familiar with Pico in one day

DESCRIPTION:

Visiting the Pico requires a full day, from early in the morning until the end of the evening.
We start our tour by the north coast. We pass through Biscoitos and Bandeiras and we go ahead to Cachorro. Passing through Miragaia, Santa Luzia and Santo António, we come to S. Roque. Here we will stop for sightseeing and visiting museums. Following the seaside road admiring the beautiful scenery, we go down to Santo Amaro. We stop at the Miradouro da Terra Alta, a belveder with a spectacular sight and then we continue through Ribeirinha till Piedade. We visit the wine cellars and the seaside strand, also enjoy the landscape and its wonderfu forestry richness. Follow Calheta de Nesquim and visit this inviting parish, museum of whaling ships and when is nice weather, we refresh in the local beautiful natural pool. Then we continue to Lajes do Pico, passing through Ribeira Grande and Ribeira Seca. During the way we stop at the several magnifficent viewpoints. In Lajes do Pico, a typical whaler village, we visit the whaler´s museum and handicraft shops, exhibiting bone and whale tooth works. Continue to Madalena, passing through Silveira, S. João, Terra do Pão, S. Caetano a São Mateus. Here we have a tasty lunch and good wine. After lunch and little break we go ahead pass Guindaste, Candelária, where we visit the Mother Church and turn to Porto Calhou. Passing thru Monte Criação Velha, Areia Larga, we continue slowly to Madalena Village. Here we finish our tour.

DON'T FORGET:

Even if we stop in towns with purchase of water, coffee or sandwiches, take along some liquid and swimwear, we can refresh in one of the natural pools. Also, do not forget yours cameras, comfortable shoes and clothing, we will be on the trip full day.

Enjoy Pico island the beauty of its villages, the most interesting and beautiful places, seacoast and ocean views. Use this day trip to the knowledge of the inhabited parts of the island. Your knowledgeable guide from island life will introduce you to the history of the island and island's settlement, also provides information on the world of plants, trees, wine and ancient whaling, which was the main source of sustenance for local people.
